Investment management firm Manning & Napier files for a $250 million IPO

Manning & Napier, Inc., an independent investment management firm with $43 billion in assets under management, filed on Friday with the SEC to raise up to $250 million in an initial public offering. The Fairport, NY-based company, which was founded in 1970 and booked $276 million in sales for the 12 months ended March 31, 2011, plans to list under the symbol MN. BofA Merrill Lynch is the lead underwriter on the deal, for which pricing terms and timing were not disclosed.
