HCA Holdings, the largest private hospital operator in the US, raised $3.8 billion, making it the largest ever private equity-backed IPO on a US exchange, by offering 126.2 million shares at $30, the high end of the $27-$30 range. The company sold slightly more shares than the 124 million originally planned, with the upside coming from selling shareholders. HCA Holdings plans to list on the NYSE under the symbol HCA. BofA Merrill Lynch, Citi, and J.P. Morgan were the lead underwriters on the deal.
