Life insurer Symetra Financial files for an IPO

Symetra Financial, which provides group health, retirement, life and employee benefits insurance, filed on Monday with the SEC to raise up to $575 million in an initial public offering. The Bellevue, WA-based company, which was founded in 1957 and booked $1.5 billion in sales over the last 12 months, plans to list on the NYSE under the symbol SYA. BofA Merrill Lynch, J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Barclays are the joint book runners on the deal. No pricing terms were disclosed.
