Dell announced on Monday that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire EqualLogic, which provides high-performance storage products that simplify the way enterprises retain, access, manage and protect their data, for $1.4 billion in cash. EqualLogic had filed for an IPO on August 9 but had yet to announce terms. One of EqualLogic's competitors, Compellent (CML) went public in October, and another, 3Par (proposed ticker: PAR), filed for an IPO in August and announced terms on Friday.
