Acme Packet, a leading provider of session border controllers that enable telecom service providers to deploy next-generation communications services such as Voice-over-IP, filed late Friday to raise up to $85 million in an IPO. The Burlington, MA based company was founded in 2000 and has sold its products to more than 240 service providers in over 50 countries, including many of the world's largest carriers. The company's revenues have grown from just over $3 million in 2003 to $16 million in 2004 and $26 million in 2005. During the first quarter of 2006, total revenues were just shy of $19 million, up 125% over the prior year. Its first quarter operating margin rose substantially to 32%. Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and JPMorgan are underwriting the offering. Terms and timing have yet to be announced.
